THE REAL BUSES
In 1995 Dennis introduced a new Super Low Floor (SLF) version of the Dart, this was originally availabe with a new flat floor version of Plaxton Pointer body which had a front end design similar to the original step entrance body.
The original step entrance version of the Dennis Dart remained in production until 1998 but the Super Low floor Dart quickly proved extremely popular with operators across the UK. The Plaxton body was also given a face lift that included a new frontal design and was dubbed the Pointer 2, meanwhile Dennis introduced a longer 11.3 metre version of the chassis known as the Super Dart and a 8.8 metre mini pointer Dart further demonstrating the versatility of the vehicle.
The Dennis Dart SLF Plaxton Pointer was superseded by the Alexander Dennis Enviro200 Dart and the last Pointer SLF vehicles entered service in 2008.
THE EFE MODELS
EFE announced it was producing Mark I & Mark II versions of the Plaxton Pointer low floor buses at the 2008 Showbus Rally. Both versions represent 10.7 metre vehicles and can be produced in either dual or single door form.
The first mark II models were released in the late summer of 2009 with the mark I version following in the Spring of 2010. To date no dual door mark I versions have been released.
This wasn't EFE's first model version of the Plaxton Pointer II however as in 1999 they produced a model exclusively for New World First Bus. Only two issues of this model were ever produced for that company and although the first of these was offered to EFE Subscription Service members legal issues prevented EFE from using the tooling to produce any models for it's own range.
