THE REAL BUSES
The Dart produced by Britain's only remaining chassis builder Dennis is mostly found combined with a Plaxton Pointer body. This combination became one of the most common types of single deck vehicle in use in the UK between the mid 1990's & mid 2010's.
These particular vehicles can be found operating with both large and small operators across the UK. The Dart was originally designed as a midibus available in 8.5, 9, and 9.8 metre chassis lengths, but the vehicle lengths have grown as operators demanded more capacity, the SLF version was available in lengths ranging from 8.9 to 10.2 metres.
Production of the original version ended in 1998 following the introduction of a new low floor Dennis Dart SLF with revised Plaxton Pointer body in 1995. This very popular vehicle remained in production until 2008 when it was superseded by the Alexander Dennis Enviro200 Dart.
THE EFE MODELS
The 9.8 metre Dennis Dart with 10 metre Plaxton Pointer bodywork was the first single deck model of a then current production vehicle to appear in the range. As can be seen from the list below this model is one of the more popular, with over forty releases since 1996.
The original design which is represented by model 206 was superseded by the Super Low floor Plaxton Pointer shortly after the model made it's debut.
A low floor Pointer 2 Dennis Dart casting was produced for New World First Bus and was used to produce two releases for that operator.
Sadly legal problems have prevented EFE using this casting to produce any UK versions but in 2008 EFE
announced a second totally new casting of the same Pointer 2 and also the earlier short lived Pointer 1 version, both can produced in single & dual door layouts View Dennis Dart SLF Models |
