New Commissioned EFE Model
The Blackwater Preservation Group have commissioned an Eastern National Bristol VRT Series I model from EFE. The models depicts CPU 979G, fleet number 3000 on route X10 to Southend Seaway.
This bus was numerically the first ENOC Bristol VRT and numerically the first production VRT chassis. The chassis was displayed at the 1968 Earls Court Commercial Vehicle Show.

The models are limited edition of 250 certificated pieces and carry EFE ref 38103A. They will be offered for sale during the Blackwater Preservation Group's Charity Running day on Sunday, April 28 when former Eastern National vehicles will re-run the 151, 251, and 351 bus routes from Essex to London Wood Green.

CPU 979G is now preserved with the Blackwater Preservation Group and funds raised from the sale of this very limited EFE model will be used for further vehicle preservation.

Further event details can be found at: http://251woodgreen.weebly.com.

Confirmed Resin Releases
TTC Diecast had two new resin models available at the London Bus Museum's Spring Gathering.

The first model is a "De-badged" version of the FRM1 model originally produced for the 2011 Showbus Rally, The revised versions have had the original Showbus side advertisements removed. The models were retailing for £59 at the event.

"De-badged FRM1SB model"

The second version of the dual door Optare Spectra was also on sale at the TTC Diecast stall, the model carries East London Coaches livery and route 86 destinations.

RES7001B East London Coaches (route 86) - Dual Door Optare Spectra Double Deck Bus

A Manchester Mancunain double deck bus is another new resin model currently in development.

The commissioned EFE RLH 34204a was on sale from the Museum's shop and when I left at 3pm they still had a good number of models availble.

The annual Spring Gathering at the London Bus Museum's Brooklands site was blessed with bright sunny weather, thankfully a big improvement over the dreadful weather that hit the event last year.

The museum unveiled three new additions to it collection, the first RT2657 has been donated by the Paris Transport Museum which has had the early roof box RT since 1965. The other pair of vehicles are on long term loan to the museum, the first is recently restored RW3, a Willowbrook bodied AEC Reliance, the second is the last London Routemaster built RML2760 which is owned by Stagecoach London.

The museum was also the host to the re-launch of Stagecoach London's Alexander Dennis Enviro400 19000, this is known as the Spirit of London and commemorates those who died in the London 7/7 bombings. The vehicle has been rebuilt following a serious fire last October.

There were a wide collection of both preserved & current vehicles on show at the event.

Five Photographs Published of Future B-T Models
John Ayrey's has published photographs of five forthcoming 1/76 lorry models.

Please also note the corrected descriptions for Duple Dominant Coaches B016A & B016B, these both depict Wallace Arnold vehicles and not Grey Green as previously stated, although both will carry the same grey colour scheme the B version will have Evan Evans fleet names rather than Wallace Arnold. Apologies for the oversight on my part.

Latest EFE Subscribers Newsletter
EFE's third subscriber newsletter & release sheet of the year arrived today.

Among the subjects covered are the continuing difficulties that EFE are experiencing in regards to the manufacturing their models in China. Frank Joyce reports that the factories have been getting back to work after the New Year celebrations, but it seems that there are plenty of problems with a shortage of labour in South China. Many experienced staff failed to return after the holiday and there are difficulties recruiting and training new staff. This latest disruption is on top of the underlying problem caused by the shortage of manufacturing capacity due to the closure of so many factories.

The London Transport Museum have commissioned Eastern National Bristol Lodekka FLF model 14205A in Tilling livery. The model is depicted working route 30 to London Bow and will be available this weekend (13/14 April) at the Acton Depot Open Weekend.
Further event details can be found on the London Transport Museum's website.

A reminder that another commissioned EFE model will be available at the London Bus Museum's 40th Spring Gathering later this month (Sunday 21st April), and will feature red London Transport RLH 34204A on route 230 to Harrow Weald Garage.
Further details regarding the Spring Gathering can be found on the London Bus Museum'swebsite.

There are no new models listed in this newsletter.

New Etched Grilles For Bristol Models
Mark Hughes has announced a new range of etched grille inserts suitable for diecast Bristol Lodekka & RELH models produced by EFE & OOC.

Etched grille inserts for EFE & OOC & Bristol models

He's also produced grilles for the B-T Models plastic LD model, these are available in both long and short versions. Mark has met some issues with the long version however which may require that the etching be amended, as a result he currently only has a limited number available.

A second version of the short grille was also produced, but this turned out to be a design that was only used on LDL, FS & FL vehicles. Mark has only produced a small quantity of these so far.

Etched grilles for B-T Bristol Lodekka LD models - Short & long versions

The EFE & OOC inserts are £1.20 each while the B-T grilles are £1.50 each, further details and larger photographs can be found HERE.

For full details of Mark's range of kits & parts please visit his web pages.
