Tiny Model Kits Update

Doug Nicholson has contacted me with an update on some of the planned T i N Y kits. You may be aware that Keith Turner who produced most of the kit masters for the range has sadly passed away. This sad event has resulted in a revision of the plans for some of the projected kits, some kits and any reservations placed for them have been transferred to other producers, while a couple of kits have unfortunately had to be cancelled. New EFE Commission For Arriva Heritage Fleet

A new commissioned EFE Open Top RMC Routemaster model has been produced for the Arriva Heritage fleet. The model which is limited to 200 pieces features RMC1464 with destinations for route 76 and advertisements for the Payroll giving charity. The model is based on the real vehicle which took part in this year's London Lord Mayors Show. 33103D Arriva London (route 76 = Payroll giving adverts) - Open Top AEC RMC Routemaster The model can be ordered from the Arriva online shop and costs £29.99 plus P&P.

Optare Solo Model

Rüdiger Schreiber at www.modelbus.info has sent me details of a new roughly 1/60 scale model of a Optare Solo which is now on sale in Germany. The model is manufactured in China by Alloy Car Models and has City Bus branding & destinations in English. The need to recruit and instruct new drivers is constant. Suitable vehicles were not always available, as to take a bus from revenue earning service to utilise as a trainer is not ideal. Instead, it has become common practise to use vehicles that have ended their service with the passenger carrying fleets, and yet are still in good enough running order to fulfil a vital duty. Our model depicts a very typical London Driver Training bus in the form of DMS 2422, registered OJD 422R decorated with prototypical markings and company advertising. Most bus garages will have at least one such dedicated vehicle, making this fine EFE model an ideal addition to any collection.

Site Access Problems

Apologises if you've been experiencing problems accessing the site in the last 24 hours or so, this issue has been caused by technical problems with the DNS servers at my web hosting provider. It is possible there could be further site access problems in the coming days as my current hosting provider has recently been taken over by Fasthosts who plan to migrate my site over to their own servers at some point in the next couple of weeks.

New Release From Resin Specialists

Resin Specialists have released a second red version of the London Transport CR class Leyland Cub. This standard issue model features CR9 operating on route 73 to Kings Cross and follows the release last month of a similar red version depicting CR47 on route 213 that was been produced exclusively for the London Bus Museum. Example are still available from the Museum's Shop. The latest release, Ref code: RS76643, is a limited edition of 240 pieces and comes packaged in a black card presentation box and includes a plastic display case. Sunrise Model Kits Update

George Heaney has sent mean update on his growing range Sunrise Model kits, his dedicated page in the kits sections has been updated accordingly, but below I've listed the recent & forthcoming releases. Kits 45 & 46 were released without prior announcement at the MBF Scotland 20th Anniversary Annual Show at Bishopton as an event surprise on the 2nd November, after only 1 week of launch only a handful of each kit are now left in stock. Kits 29, 37 and 40 are a little bit special (and a little bit dearer!) as George opted for a high-tech CNC-produced solution for their side glazing, in order to achieve a high quality flush glazed effect. Appropriate, bespoke transfer sets were produced for Kits 17, 29, 37, 40, 45 and 46; the same is happening for forthcoming Kits 5, 13, 34, 35, 36 and 38, with arrangements in hand for this All the recent kit releases have proved extremely popular and stock of most of the following kits released since July is already very limited. Model Lists Updated

Peter Harrison has updated his model lists to the end of October. This latest update sees the number of items covered increasing to over 9000 models & kits. The number of N & 1/76 scale model buses listed is now in excess of 5000, while the directory of model bus kits list has now passed 1900 mark. Latest Kingsway Card Kits

Kingsway Models have recently released several new 1/76 scale bus related card kits. Two of the existing London Transport Garage kits have been revised. The Harrow Weald Garage kit (Ref: HD) now comes with double roof sections rear extension, the new kit measures 15" by 8" deep. A further double roof section kit (Kit Ref: HDX) with matching walls is also now available which allows a doubling of the covered area. The roof pieces on both kits can be lift removable to allow access, although it is recommended that the walls are fixed to a base if this option is chosen. The kits are priced HD £16 & HDX £14. The Bromley Garage kit (Ref: TB) has similarly been extended and now measures 22" by 10" deep. Like the Harrow Weald kits the roof pieces can be left removable for access if desired. The TB kit is priced £16. Two new items have been added to the range, firstly there's a kit of the Southdown Bus Station at Haywards Heath (Ref: SHH), the kit is viewable all round and like the real building is designed to accommodate a gentle slope which will required a slightly sloping road surface. The kit measures 8" by 17" is priced £16. The second new kit depicts the Trent Motor Services Garage in Matlock (ref: TM) during the 1970s. Notably the right hand entrance was too low to accommodate double deckers and none were ever allocated to this depot. The kit measures 21” wide by 8” deep, and has 'posable' doors. This kit is also priced £16 which includes first class UK postage.
